Siem Reap, ( Angkor Wat )



During my annual  leave this year, me and my wife  having time visiting Cambodia, known of its famous the Angkor Wat. Just 5 hours trip buy bus to Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia from Ho Chi Minh City and another 6 hours from the capital city to Siem Reap, the location of the Angkor Wat .

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap :

We took The Sinhtourist Tour bus, leaves HCM 6:30 am daily from there office at De Tam St., guaranteed the bus leave regardless of number of passengers. That time we're only 7 passengers and it take us 2 hours journey before we arrived at the Moc Bai Border between Vietnam and Cambodia. We take- off  from the bus together with all our belongings for proper inspection and exiting Vietnam. After clearing the Immigration and Custom of Vietnam back to our bus and just a few meters ahead was the entrance for Cambodia. The cost for the Tourist Visa in Cambodia is $25.00, if you're from  ASEAN country then your allowed to enter for 14 days Visa Free. There's no need to change money in Cambodia.. They will prepared to  accept US dollar but please prepared small bill from $1-$20 bill. But , if you want to change to there currency the current exchange rate ( $1.00 - 4,000 KHR) Cambodian Riel

After entering the border of Cambodia we continued our journey towards the capital city. An hour and half later we have to cross a river and our bus will board a roro type barge for 15 minutes to reach the other banks.


Background is the Barge taking us to other side of the river.


We continue our journey for few hours and arrived the the Sinhtourist Phnom Penh office around 12:30 noon for our stop-over and have lunch at there restaurant. We have to transfer another bus for our next 6 hour trip to Siem Reap.

At 13:45 we leave Phnom Penh city bound for Siem Reap.. It took us 6 hours to reach Siem Reap. There were Bus stop-over every 2 hour journey for personal necessities for the passengers.

Why not try this exotic food, yes this can be eaten in Cambodia but  I never tried.


Around 19:30 hours we arrived at the The Sinhtourist office Siem Reap our bus stop in this city. We arranged from our hotel for picking-up at the bus stop for free.

We prepared to stay at The Angkor Parklane Hotel  i strongly recommend this budget hotel but very good serviced they offered:

After check-in at this hotel we eat dinner at the Filipino restaurant just walking distance from this hotel .We got this information from the owner of this hotel itself. Walking within the city after dinner then back to our hotel and we arranged at the reception for our next activities for tomorrow. Then we take rest at our room, very much tired for a whole day trip..


Day 2 : Siem Reap Tours ( Angkor Wat ) :

On the next day.. at 7:30 am after we eat  breakfast we're informed that our Tuk-Tuk driver waiting outside:
We arranged Tuk-tuk for the whole day tour in Angkor Wat for $ 16.00 , The name of the driver was Mr. Ka (#9317) nice guy and can speak English well.

We did a short city tour and stop at the Siem Reap Angkor Museum:

Then we proceed to the Ticket booth buy admission ticket  for our 1 day tour cost $20.00 per pax. They will take photo and  attach at the ticket. Keep the ticket with you all the time for inspection during your whole visit at the temple.

Now, we proceed our tour at the temple. There are many temples to visit, since we have only limited time we just selected the most visited temple as per recommended by our driver at the same time acting as our tour guide.

Until 5:00 pm touring  around  the Angkor Wat. We  return to our hotel.. We paid Mr. KA  for the tour and give him a tip since we enjoy our company  with him during the whole day tour.

We booked  a foot massage  for me and my wife at our room and  we take a  rest for a while. We go out for our dinner and visiting the night market for some shopping. We did buy souvenir items, t-shirts and others at the night market in a reasonable price. We packed our things ready before going to sleep for our early trip 6:30 am by bus  back to Phnom Penh city for our next tour..
